Honoring Faculty Members and Administrative Staff for Their Role in Supporting Academic and Institutional Excellence on the Sidelines of the Second Scientific Conference

As part of the activities of the Second Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Engineering at Shoubra,
Professor Gamal Abdel Aziz, Dean of the Faculty, honored a group of faculty members and administrative staff who played a pivotal role in achieving major institutional milestones. These achievements include the Faculty's success in securing nine competitively funded projects from the Ministry of Higher Education and the University, as well as the recent accreditation of several academic programs by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE).

The recognition covered faculty members who led key research and development projects, coordinators of newly accredited academic programs, and college leaders who provided essential administrative and technical support to ensure the success of these endeavors.

The honorees included:

  • Dr. Mahmoud Salah Mahmoud Gomaa – Head of the Geomatics Engineering Department and Director of the Utility and Infrastructure Detection Laboratory Project.

  • Dr. Mohamed Shehata El-Sayed Ismail – Advisor for the Development and Accreditation Project of the Materials Properties and Quality Control Laboratory.

  • Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Ibrahim Ramadan – Advisor for the Development and Accreditation Project of the Highway Engineering Laboratory.

  • Dr. Tarek Ahmed Fouad Khalifa – Advisor for the Development and Accreditation Project of the Materials Resistance Laboratory.

  • Dr. Ahmed Atiya Abdel Latif – Director of the Faculty Quality Unit and Executive Director of the Project to Support and Qualify Educational Programs in Higher Education Institutions for International Accreditation.

  • Dr. Islam Mansour Abdel Fattah Abdel Rahman – Advisor for the Economic Embroidery Machine Project using Digital Techniques and CNC Applications.

  • Dr. Fouad Mahmoud Fouad Mohamed – Advisor for the Low-Cost Furniture Units Manufacturing Project using Recycled Wooden Pallets.

  • Dr. Ahmed Youssef Bakry Youssef – Advisor for the Biofiltration System Design Project to Treat Industrial Wastewater from Tanneries.

  • Dr. Mamdouh Wafaa Shoukry El Dessouky – Advisor for the Biogas Production Project from Organic and Sewage Waste, and Enhancing Digestion Efficiency through an Anaerobic Reactor.

  • Dr. Sahar Abdel Rahman Ismail – Director of the Innovation and Creativity Unit, Deputy Director of the Quality Unit for International Accreditation Affairs, and Deputy Executive Director of the Accreditation Support Project.

  • Prof. Dr. Fouad Helmy – Coordinator of the Industrial Engineering Program.

  • Prof. Dr. Hala Mohamed Abdel Kader – Coordinator of the Communications and Computer Engineering Program.

  • Prof. Dr. Lamiaa El Refaei – Head of the Electrical Engineering Department (Communications and Computer Engineering Programs).

  • Prof. Dr. Aly Abdel Aziz – Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.

  • Prof. Dr. Hanan Hussein Ali El-Tobgy – Dean’s Advisor for Quality and Accreditation.

  • Prof. Dr. Mohamed Magdy Fawzy Darwish – Director of the Projects Unit.

  • Prof. Dr. Hanaa Abu El-Magd – Coordinator of Student Activities.

  • Mr. Khaled Mostafa Ahmed Abdel Rahman – General Director of the Faculty.

This recognition stands as a tribute to their continuous efforts in advancing institutional development and fulfilling academic accreditation requirements, thereby enhancing the Faculty’s local and international standing and supporting the national vision for sustainable development by 2030.

On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, the Second Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Engineering at Shoubra was held under the title:
"Together... Towards Enhancing the International Standing of the Faculty of Engineering at Shoubra."

The event was held under the patronage of:

  • Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy – President of the University

  • Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Fouda – Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development

  • Prof. Dr. Gehan Abdel Hadi – Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research

  • Prof. Dr. Gamal Abdel Aziz – Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Shoubra

The conference aimed to reaffirm the faculty’s commitment to advancing its international standing. It embraced the recommendations previously issued by the scientific conferences held by the faculty's six academic departments.

In his speech, the Dean of the Faculty emphasized the importance of collaboration, integration, and joint efforts among all stakeholders to boost the faculty’s global reputation. He highlighted the need to enhance scientific research and international publication, and to align research outcomes with community service and industrial problem-solving, in accordance with Egypt's Sustainable Development Strategy – Vision 2030. He also stressed the importance of securing more competitive and state-funded research projects.

Moreover, the Dean noted that the faculty has taken significant steps towards international accreditation of its academic programs and laboratories.

The conference featured three main panel discussions:

  • A panel on the educational process and student services

  • A panel on scientific research and research projects

  • A panel on institutional quality development and community services

Appointment of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Magdy and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Omar to the Industrial Technology Research Council at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology

Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the selection of several university professors to join the specialized councils of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. He noted that the selection came following the nomination of Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as part of the restructuring of the Academy’s specialized councils.

These 20 specialized councils cover all fields of science, technology, and innovation, serving as national think tanks and centers of expertise and strategic knowledge.

From the Faculty of Engineering at Shoubra, both Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Omar Mosleh and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Magdy Fawzy were selected as members of the Industrial Technology Research Council.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Gamal Abdelaziz, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Shoubra, extended his sincere congratulations to Dr. Ahmed Omar Mosleh and Dr. Mohamed Magdy Fawzy on their selection. He wished them continued success in their new national roles and in contributing to the advancement of scientific and technological research in Egypt.
