The Department of Geomatics Engineering and the Alumni Follow-up Unit at the Faculty of Engineering in Shoubra received today, Sunday, April 27, 2025:

  • Dr. Mohamed Youssef Ali Ali El-Saad – Chief Operating Officer of Safeen Survey and Subsea,

  • Engineer Islam Sami Barakat – Project Manager at the company and a 2003 graduate of the Surveying Engineering Department.

The visit was held under the patronage of:

  • Prof. Dr. Gamal Abdel Aziz – Dean of the Faculty,

  • Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel Aziz – Vice Dean for Community Service,

  • Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Salah – Head of the Geomatics Engineering Department,

  • Dr. Karim Samir Roshwa – Director of the Alumni Unit and the Center for Engineering Studies and Consultations.

The purpose of the visit was to provide training and employment opportunities for graduates of the Geomatics Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering in Shoubra at Safeen Survey and Subsea, a company specializing in Hydrographic Survey, Geotechnical, ROV, and Subsea Operations, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

A committee interviewed 37 graduates of the Geomatics Engineering Department to select a number of them for training and employment in the company’s projects.

During his meeting with the representatives of the Emirati company, the Dean of the Faculty emphasized the strong relationship between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the longstanding reputation of the faculty, the distinction of its graduates, and the quality of its academic programs—particularly the Geomatics Engineering program. The meeting also addressed the possibility of updating certain course curricula to align with labor market demands in the Gulf region and Europe.
