Believing in the importance of creating a healthy and safe academic work environment free of significant risks, the Faculty of Engineering at Shubra has come to fully realize that this goal cannot be achieved as desired unless all college members share the responsibility of ensuring a safe working environment free from any potential hazards.
Therefore, a seminar was held on Wednesday, 13/12/2023, at the Alkhalafawy building to raise awareness among the faculty members, teaching assistants, students, department managers, administrative staff, and workers about any risks resulting from errors or negligence that may cause health damage, whether physical or psychological.
The seminar aimed to identify emerging occupational hazards and methods to control and manage them. The first lecture was delivered by Engineer Viola Sami (Occupational Safety and Health Specialist – Rod El Farag Office), covering the concept of occupational safety and health, workplace hazards, prevention methods, and the necessity of activating the emergency plan.
The second lecture was presented by Ms. Safaa Rabie El-Sayed (Director of Child Care Department – Media and Technical Center of the Directorate of Labor), focusing on free training opportunities at the Martyrs of the 103rd Commando Battalion Training Center, which serves as an alternative solution to illegal youth migration, as well as issues related to child labor and appropriate working age. Invitations were extended to college members—students and administrative staff—to attend these free training courses.
The team of lecturers also included Ms. Abeer Mohamed Abdullah (Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Office).
At the end of the workshop, emphasis was placed on the necessity of the presence of safety and security personnel to take appropriate measures to prevent accidents whenever possible and to provide assistance whenever requested during emergencies, crises, or incidents.

Believing in the importance of creating a healthy and safe academic work environment free of significant hazards, the Faculty of Engineering at Shubra has come to fully realize that this goal cannot be achieved effectively without the participation of all faculty members and staff in taking responsibility for the safety of the work environment and eliminating any potential risks.
Accordingly, a workshop was held on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the Al-Khalafawi building to raise awareness among all faculty members, assistants, students, department heads, employees, and workers about risks resulting from mistakes or negligence, which may lead to physical or psychological health damages.
The workshop aimed to identify emerging occupational hazards and methods to control and manage them. The first lecture, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Hanaa Abu El-Magd from the Department of Natural Sciences, highlighted some potential dangers in laboratories and workshops. The second lecture, presented by Dr. Islam Saqr from the Mechanical Engineering Department, focused on how to deal with fires, followed by practical training on the use of fire extinguishers to combat fires. This training was intended to qualify technical workers and all faculty members for proper readiness in this field to face any potential hazards and reduce them.
This training created full awareness among all college staff, whether administrative units or academic departments. It provided a comprehensive explanation of safety procedures that must be followed in case of any hazards, God forbid.
At the end of the workshop, the necessity of having safety and security personnel present to take appropriate measures to prevent accidents whenever possible was emphasized, along with offering assistance when requested during emergencies, crises, or accidents.
