Based on the recommendations of Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University; Prof. Dr. Ayman El-Shehaby, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Dr. Gamal Abdel Aziz, Vice Dean for Student Affairs; and Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel Aziz, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Affairs, and in line with their commitment to supporting student activities and providing beneficial community services, the IEEE Benha University Student Branch at the Faculty of Engineering, Shoubra—affiliated with the global IEEE organization that aims to promote technology among students—organized a workshop on robotics.

The event took place from Monday, February 5, 2024, to Thursday, February 8, 2024, in the faculty halls at the Khalafawy building, with the goal of introducing concepts in programming and robotics and raising students’ awareness in this field. The workshop was held under the full supervision and continuous support of Dr. Lamiaa El-Refaie, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department and academic supervisor of the activity, and Dr. Hanaa Abu El-Magd, General Coordinator of Student Activities.

In addition to university students, a group of high school students was also invited to participate in the event. Forty students from the STEM High School for Boys in Obour and the STEM High School for Boys in 6th of October took part, aiming to bridge the gap between school and university education.

Workshop Objectives:

• Introduction to the world of robotics and artificial intelligence.

• Demystifying the field of robotics.

• Hands-on training with microcontrollers (Arduino).

• Understanding the design and manufacturing mechanisms of robots.

• During the first three days, students underwent intensive practical training to prepare for building their own robot on the fourth day and controlling it via mobile phone.

• Building a radio-controlled (RC) car and operating it using a mobile device through Bluetooth.

At the end of the workshop, students participated in a competition using the RC cars they had built, fostering a spirit of healthy competition among them.

The Faculty of Engineering, Shoubra, is organizing blood donation campaigns within the college premises at the Khalafawy and Rod El Farag buildings, in coordination with the National Blood Transfusion Services Center in Benha. The campaigns will take place on November 26, 27, 28, and 29, through coordination with the Youth Welfare Office.

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ayman El-Shehaby, Dean of the Faculty, the Annual Clothing Exhibition was held.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Gamal Abdel Aziz, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel Aziz, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Affairs, in support of student activities and the provision of community services for the benefit of students and members of the wider community.
