Dean Attends Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Laser Physics and Technology Unit and Inaugurates 19th Workshop

On Monday, May 26, 2025, the Dean of the Faculty inaugurated the Scientific Forum and the 19th Workshop of the Laser Physics and Technology Unit, organized by Prof. Dr. Soheir Negm, Director of the Unit. The event was held at the Seminar Hall of the Faculty’s Khalafawy Campus.

The forum was attended by nanoscience and physics experts from the Faculty, Egyptian universities, and research centers.

On the sidelines of the forum, attendees celebrated the Silver Jubilee of the establishment of the Laser Physics and Technology Unit at the Faculty. In his speech, the Dean emphasized the importance of conducting interdisciplinary research linking basic sciences and nanoscience to engineering specializations, as well as developing innovative research to create and improve nanomaterials that serve various engineering fields.

The Unit’s Director highlighted the Unit’s role in advancing research within the Department of Basic Sciences and applied engineering sciences.

Congratulations to Student Abrar Mohamed Abdelghany on Her Achievement in the Global Finals of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025

Prof. Dr. Gamal Abdelaziz, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Shoubra – Benha University, extends his heartfelt congratulations to Abrar Mohamed Abdelghany, a first-year student in the Electrical Power Engineering Program, Department of Electrical Engineering, on her outstanding participation as part of the Egyptian team in the Global Finals of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025, held in Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China.

The team achieved second place worldwide in the Cloud Computing and Innovation track — a remarkable accomplishment on both the national and continental levels. It is worth noting that the team had previously won the Grand Prize in the field of Cloud Services at the Africa regional level of the Huawei ICT Competition, which qualified them to represent Egypt and Africa in the global finals.

This distinguished participation reflects the spirit of innovation and academic excellence of the students of the Faculty of Engineering at Shoubra, and affirms the competence of our students in international arenas.
