• The origins of the faculty trace back to the Engineering Division of the Higher Technical Institute in Cairo, which was established in October 1961 under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education. The institute comprised three divisions: Engineering, Agricultural, and Commercial. The Engineering Division awarded a bachelor’s degree in engineering after five years of study in English.
• In October 1975, the Engineering Division of the Higher Technical Institute was merged into the Faculty of Technology in Mataria-Helwan University.
• In April 1976, Presidential Decree No. 367 of 1976 was issued, transferring the Higher Technical Institute in Shubra to Ain Shams University under the name "Faculty of Engineering, Shoubra."
• On October 30, 1976, Presidential Decree No. 1069 of 1976 was issued, affiliating the Faculty of Engineering, Shoubra, with Zagazig University, Benha Branch.
• Finally, Presidential Decree No. 84 of 2005 established Benha University, with the Faculty of Engineering, Shoubra, as one of its colleges.

 Faculty Buildings

The Faculty of Engineering in Shoubra consists of two main buildings:

1. The Main Building

Located in the heart of the Shoubra district on Shoubra Main Street, this building enjoys a prime location in a vibrant and densely populated urban area.

It features 20 lecture halls with a total capacity of approximately 2,500 students. This building accommodates the departments of Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, and Geomatics Engineering (formerly Surveying Engineering), serving students from the first year to the bachelor's degree. Additionally, it includes a conference hall and multimedia rooms to support educational and academic activities.

2. The Secondary Building

Situated near the main building, the secondary facility is located in Khalafawy Square in Shoubra, an equally lively area close to the Khalafawy Metro Station.

This modern building consists of ten floors with extensive facilities, including workshops, lecture halls, and spaces dedicated to serving both students and the wider community. It currently houses the administrative offices of the faculty, including the Dean’s Office, the offices of the Vice Deans, and all administrative departments.

The secondary building hosts a significant number of preparatory year students, featuring expansive main auditoriums, fully equipped workshops, and a large conference hall. It also serves students from the Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Basic Sciences departments.
